1859 George Fitch Physical Geography Maps Engravings Antique

This is a nice copy of an early American printed Geography Book. Contents include: Introduction, The Land, The Waters, The Atmosphere, Organic Existence, and an Appendix. The engravings are marvelous, see scans for some examples of the engravings. All Six (6) Double-page Maps are present, maps are blank on verso. Also includes graphs and charts. The brown blind stamped cover is still attractive, some wear and small stains, edge and corner wear, not bad for age and type of book. Gilt title on spine still present and attractive. Marbled ends on all edges, slightly faded~still very nice looking. Names on front endpaper, dated 1880. Pencil drawings on back inside cover and endpaper (see scan). Part of one of the back endpapers has been torn out. Binding tight, no loose or missing pages, slight foxing through out book. The worst of the foxing is shown in the scans. Most pages are not foxed. A few pages have light pencil marks, an occacional doodle. There is a dampstain on the outside edge of about 100 pages. This dampstaining is shown clearly on the scans. The worst of the dampstaining has been shown in the scans. Most of the affected pages have lighter stains than the ones shown here. Three (3) of the maps have the dampstaining. Despite the defects, this is a very worthwhile and collectible book. Really Nice Copy of an Early American Geography Book ~ Very Collectible Condition
