Native Eastern Wild columbine, Aquilegia Canadensis
Eastern Wild Columbine, native to the Mid-Atlantic region is a beautiful and useful plant indeed! This is the true native, not the cultivar, grown from sustainably collected seed. The plant will come to you in a 3.5 inch pot. Soak thoroughly before planting. Water regularly until established.
Description: This columbine boasts red tubular flowers with a yellow center hanging from its stalk. A very dainty plant, they seem to jiggle in the breeze. The delicate foliage is attractive as well.
Culture: They grow in average soil with average moisture in sun to partial shade. Bloom time is late spring to early summer and they are hardy to zone 3.
Companion plants: Canada Anemone, Bluebells, Foamflower
Wildlife benefit: This is a natural source of nectar for the Ruby-throated hummingbird, in fact it is the first plant they look for on their northern migration each spring. Its rich nectar will also attract butterflies as well.

Native plant range and our shipping (PLEASE READ)
Most of our plants are also found native to the Midwest, however that is generally the extent of their range. This includes Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii. If you live in these states, please do not order.
