This is a biography of the famous scientist from Sweden Carl Linnaeus called, "Beloved Botanist." Book was written by Adrien Stoutenburg and Laura Nelson Baker.
In the early 18th century in Sweden, Linnaeus began a career of brilliance that laid the foundation for modern systemic botany. Here is his story.
The flower motif used throughout the book is taken from an engraving of the Linnea borealis found in an early edition of Linnaeus' Flora Svecica. This pink, dainty twinflower, his favorite, grows thickly in Sweden. After he was knighted, Linnaeus included the plant in his coat of arms.
Book is a 5.5x8 1961 hardback with dust jacket from Charles Scribner's Sons. It is an ex-church library book in good condition with some wear and aging. Book is 192 pages and originally written for older children.
